Does anyone out there have Reading Mastery (Englemann) materials? My son's school needs all levels & materials--textbooks, workbooks, presentation materials, take home tests, etc.. Doesn't have to be the newest editions, either.

My son was having so much difficulty in the public school system and was falling further & further behind. It got to the point where he was so stressed that he was trying to make himself vomit in the mornings, was clawing at his skin, and was crawling under desks at school, among many other symptoms.

In my desperation, I found a private boarding school in VA and sent him there for a year. He absolutely blossomed and gained two grade levels in only one year. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to take another 20yr loan for an additional year of school.

Luckily, a friend connected me with a local special ed teacher who had gotten so fed-up with NCLB that she left public school teaching after 26yrs and decided to open her own school. To make the school affordable, she opened a pizzeria in the same building. Parents pay 1/2 the tuition and work in the school and donate supplies to earn the other half.  To see their website, go to: www.ourneighborhoodschool.com

While she was renovating a building, she took my son on as a private student, and I signed up as a homeschool. This past fall, she opened her doors to students and has served 7 children thus far. His teacher loves the Reading Mastery program, and I have helped her find materials that have gotten us through this first year with so few students. However, with the upcoming year, we anticipate more students and need more materials.

If you have these collecting dust, please PM me. Let's work something out.

Thanks in advance for all your help, Rita.

Rita,

I had never heard of reading mastery but my son has also had problems with reading and I was wondering if this helps kids with dyslexia?

Thanks,

Tricia
