a little slow. I'm about 1/2 way into it and have started a differnt book. I think it'll pick up but I just wasn't in the mood to wait.. ;)

This was the first book I read by Bevarly and I thought it was very interesting. I like her style of writing and her actual plot line but sometimes keeping up with two plot lines was a little difficult and I felt like everything important would happen in a matter of pages and then there would be chapters before anything significant happened again. Either way, I'm going to try one of her other books because she was still able to draw me into the story and I found myself wanting to figure out what happened.

I agree- not Bevarly's best. Perhaps it is her venture into the paranormal but the story felt contrived and rushed and the characters one dimensional. We have a widowed milliner, an attorney in danger of losing his soul, the ghost of a riverboat captain and a young woman who has escaped her abuser.
