Hi! I am a new user and I love the site! Today I recieved three books and have already sent out about five this week:)

I had a problem though with some books that I had initially posted... I went through my book shelf and placed all of the books I could part with in a laundry basket in the basement pending a "request" then we had a flood in the basement this week-and the books have since been damaged ( I tried my best to dry them out- but they just wouldnt be something I would want to recieve!) I have several request for the since damaged books, and I have tried "denying" the request saying unplanned flood caused water damage but it keeps putting it up for request again to the next person in line I am assuming?!

I really want to be able to remove those books so that others arent requesting something that I really need to pitch:(

Does anyone have a suggestion, or know what to do in this sittuation?

Thanks!

Until you remove the books from your list, they're going to keep being requested, particularly if they're on someone's wishlist.

Sorry to hear about the flooded basement.

Yes, I was just going to post to delete them from your bookshelf.

Try putting your account on hold.

What a pain I feel for you.

Try to put your bookshelf on vacation hold. If someone has requested a book from you send them a PM and let them know what happened. To keep from having to type the same thing over and over again I'd type something to one person then maybe copy and paste it onto "Notepad" and keep the saved file on your desk top. Next time someone requests the book then just copy and paste the message to them so they can cancel it.

I think what has happened is some of the books are on peoples wish list so you can't delete the book. I once posted the wrong book before and it was a wish list book. A lot of people wanted it and I have to write each one over and over again letting them know about my mistake. It took awhile since so many people had it wished. Someone would wish it, I'd let them know it was the wrong book, they'd cancel it and someone else would request it. So I understand what you are going through.

Also maybe you can use the CONTACT US button on the help page and let them know what happened. They may be able to clear out all your posted books with one mouse click. Who knows.

Good luck.

Ashley

Sorry all your books got wet :( Once a book is requested and you mark I Cannot Send This Book, it should be removed from your shelf permanently. Are you PMing people before they accept and asking them to not accept the offer? You don't want to ask them to decline because they will lose their spot in WL line. Once you cancel an order, it shouldn't go to the next person. If you cannot get it to stop, you can always contact R&R with a list of the damaged books and ask them to remove them from your shelf.

Hmm. This sounds like a glitch because as Melanie said: if you are declining incoming requests, your books should be removed from your shelf automatically.  It should only go back on your shelf if you are either: asking people to cancel their requests or declining because of requestor conditions.  I think you should put your shelf on hold and contact R&R if declining doesn't remove the books.

For the books in question...

Accept the Orders

Then Cancel the orders and PM the requestors with the situation.

You might want to also PM R&R to let them know, so they multiple cancellations don't impact your account standing.
