The system sent me a request for a book that I did not recognize - thinking maybe I input a wrong ISBN I checked both my public and private bookshelf, and the book is not anywhere on there! How is it that the system can allow a member to request a book from me?\ p.s. the book in question was 'The Passion of Artemisia' by Susan Vreeland. And, in a private p.m. / offer another swapper said they would love to receive my "Walter Cronkite" book but I don't have any Cronkite books posted, help!

Once the book has been requested it will not show on your bookshelf, its removed so you wouldn't find it on your shelf anymore. You can tell what date the book was posted to your shelf on the order, do you remember posting books on that date? Check your books posted around that time to just make sure that you don't have a book with a re-used ISBN or something. Then all you can do is turn down the request and tell them you never had the book. The system does seem to have gremlins at work sometimes. |

I had this happen once. What it was (for me) was that the ISBN on the back cover was wrong! As a matter of fact the ISBN was also on the inside front cover and it was wrong there. And because I had posted the book by using the bulk posting feature (posting 15 titles at once), I apparently missed that the title didn't match. So, I get a request for a book I'd never heard of. Huh? So, after declining and apologizing, I printed the rest of my shelf and compared all the titles. And found the one that wasn't posted. Which is when I figured out that the ISBN inside (on the book info page) was different from the ones outside. Just weird. |
