The sender sent me a note saying that the book was "beat-up" by being in a backpack.  I can live with "beat-up."  I don't mind worn and beat up corners, so I let her send it.  This books is NOT just "beat up" which I would be willing to accept. This book has 9 1/2 kids stickers on the front cover, there are 14 staples stapled though the front cover and 21 stapled through the back cover.  I am in danger of injuring my fingers by trying to read this book.  AND there is HIGHLIGHTING throughout this book up to page 81 where they must have got tired of highlighting so many passages!!  I can't read this book, and I obviously cannot repost this book. I marked the book damaged by sender and asked for my credit back.  Sheeeeeessss!!

The sender sent me my credit back so everything is fine.  What do I do with this book?  I hate to throw any book in the trash, but the staples are a problem, and I'm not going to remove all 35 of them!!!

Don't people read the rules when they join a website? LOL. That sounds like it would be too distracting to read...

The condition of the book is unbelievable!  Yes, what were they thinking when they sent that? Sure hope you get your credit back.

Since the subject came up, what are the rules about stickers and staples? I have a few books that I only read once and are in perfect condition except for a giant price sticker on the front cover. Another book that I bought used is in nice condition but has one staple in the cover. The sales person stapled the receipt to the book. Would these be postable? I couldn't find anything in the rules about it.

Heather - Used or not, I would be REAL upset if a salesperson stapled a receipt to the book!!!!!

Heather, you could remove the staple (although that is just odd that they stapled it to the book!).  Price stickers are ok because that is how you bought it.  I know some people have problems with bookcrossing stickers so that would need to be disclosed before sending if that is what it was on the cover.

but yes, they are postable!

to Barbara, you can offer it as a freebie and put it in your signature like we have so that people know you have it available.  If it is a WL book you can go to the book bazaar and offer it as a freebie with an order from your shelf.

I would offer the book as a freebie with the noted conditions of the book. Or, you can make one of those paperback book Christmas trees from it :)
