I posted a book tonight, and then I put in in my Reminder List to see how many copies were available.  Next thing I knew, I was getting an offer for MY book, in my offer section!  I refused it and now it's pending "on someone's wish list" for 48 hours.  So I can't relist it or anything.  Is this normal?  I didn't think the reminder list was the same as a wish list, and would auto-request it for you, especially from your own bookshelf?  What the heck?!  Any suggestions?  There are zero copies of the book available now, that's how I know I was offered my own book.  Lol.

BTW, I think this is my first post, though I can't remember.  I've been lurking for awhile now, mostly just trading and not posting.  But I do read the boards some.  Hi everyone!

That is weird and probably just a glitch that happened.   Welcome to the forums and I hope if there is a definate reason, someone will let you know.    Lurking isn't bad but we are happy to have you come out into the light!!!   lol

I'm not sure I understand this completely, but......I'm often on the computer late at night when I'm tired...and I often hit the wrong button, thereby putting a book on my wish list or read list rather than the reminder list or TBR list.  Is it possible you clicked the wrong button in error and so you did, indeed, order a book from yourself by clicking the wish list button rather than the reminder list button?  If you check your reminder list and it's still on there, I'd say there's a glitch and you might want to contact R&R.  But if it's gone from your reminder list, my guess is you hit the wrong button in error.

Really weird, now it seems to be offered to another member... I printed out the wrapper.  But I know I got a window saying the book was offered to me last night, and I had to click, no, I didn't want it.  Really weird.  Hopefully it's straightened itself out now.  :)

***edit***

Also, I got this email from the system last night... so now I know I wasn't dreaming.  This was the book that I posted myself, lol:

"Dear Cynthia,

Great news from PaperbackSwap! The book you are wishing for, 'Dead Man's Song' by Jonathan Maberry, has been listed into our system by another club member.

The club library will 'hold' this book for you for 48 hours (from the date and time of this email) while the system waits to hear back from you. To be fair to other Club Members, if you don't log in and claim the book within 48 hours, then we will post the book into the general library so that other Club Members have a chance to order it.

etc..."

I don't know if it was offered to another member at the same time or what. Really weird.

The book you are wishing for, 'Dead Man's Song' by Jonathan Maberry....

This confirms that you put it onto your wish list accidentally.  It's easy enough to do. Someone else may have ordered it by seeing it as recently posted, etc., and that's why you got a new request for it after you declined.

Seems to me (but I could be wrong) that you couldn't put your own book on your wishlist because if the book is available on your shelf it doesn't HAVE a wishlist button. --unless some glitch were involved.

No it wasn't on my wishlist... only on my reminder list.  Some sort of glitch.  But it's on its way to another member now, so no worries I guess!

Cynthia, you put this ISBN on your Wish List on 5/27/2007.  It was still on your WL when you posted the book.  That is why it was offered to you, even though you posted it.  Right now the system doesn't stop you from offering books to yourself if you do this.    Maybe we'll do the programming to make that change at some point, but right now the best way to prevent this is to keep your Wish List "tidy" --look over it every now and then to be sure you still want all the items there.

details:

You posted the book on 8/11 at X o'clock and you immediately were sent an email notifying you that you had been offered the book--from yourself!

You probably didn't see that email, because at X o'clock plus 2 minutes you added the book to your Reminder List.

Then you declined the Wish List offer at X o'clock plus 5 minutes, and it was offered to the next wishing member.

Mystery solved. :)
