Hi,

I mailed a book to a neighboring state on 7/21.   I added Delivery Confirmation through the USPS.   I just checked the Delivery Confirmation # and it indicates that book was received on 7/26.     Recipient has not marked book received.   What do I do?    I sent a polite and pleasant PM but have not heard back.   What do I do?

Thanks!

I suspect it will work out.  I have sent quite a few books and all of them have eventually been checked received.  Some take longer than others.  They folks could be on vacation or in the hospital... its always so hard to know.  I'll bet you get your credit soon.

I wouldn't worry about it  yet.  Books coming to my house are frequently marked delivered several days before they actually make it into my mail box.  I guess they get scanned in the post office, but then wait around for space on the truck.

It also depends... if she lives in an apartment building, it could take a day or two for the front office to inform her that there is a package waiting, also she could be away or just unable to check her mail.  I know last week I was really busy so I ended up just not checking my mail for a few days.... I think the PM will do...

Per the Help Center:

"USPS sometimes scans a package as "Delivered" when it reaches the requestor's local Post office

  • there may be a few days' delay before the package reaches the destination address.
  • If your package has been scanned as Delivered and has not been marked received a week later, please contact the requestor first using the PM button on the transaction.  If she or he does not respond to your PM within 3 or 4 days, please contact us, and we will look into it."

Cheers,

Catt

Just an aside...DC through USPS is essentially meaningless here at PBS in terms of securing your credit.  I am not sure if you knew that or not.  In my opinion, you are wasting your money when you use it because even if you have the proof that it was delivered, PBS will not refund your credit if this person never marks it received.  If you like the peace of mind of DC, you are better off buying it through the site.  You'll get your credit instantly and it can't be taken away - so the credit is guaranteed.

Thanks so much -- I appreciate the replies.  Hopefully she will respond to the PM and it will all iron out.

As to adding Delivery Confirmation -- I print postage online and it automatically is added to everything I print.

Thanks again!
