I received a PM from someone I sent a book to telling me they received the book. They did not, however, mark the book as received. I asked if they had marked it as received to see if there was an error or glitch in the system. I have not received a reply as of yet. How long should I wait and is there anything that can be done if they don't mark the book as received?

You should wait a few days for them to read the PM. Like, maybe 5. The you can contact PBS, tell them the member is not responding to PMs about the book, and that they let you know via PM they received it, although they didn't mark it received. Normally, you woudln't contact PBS about a book until it goes "lost in the mail" but I think in this case, you should be able to contact them earlier because the member already contacted you but then is not responding anymore or taking any action. |

That's odd. Maybe they are traveling but know there is a package waiting there and felt they need to PM you that it arrived? But didn't want to mark it received until they saw it? |

Sometimes new members do not understand the procedure...I PM'd a member once about a book that was about to go lost and I received the reply that she had gotten the book several weeks earlier but hadn't had a chance to read it yet...she thought that she wasn't to mark the book received until she had read it and could rate it -- I know, go figure! But the point is, there are people who don't bother to learn how the system works. |
