I have received two books from the same person this week that I did not ask for. I did get one book from her that I did ask for.

Do NOT log the books in until you understand what happened, especially if the titles are not what you requested (wrong binding must be logged in regardless).

If the transactions were standard FIFO, you should have a button to PM the sender.  You can then inquire regarding the situation.  Often this type of thing is often the result of a sender wrapping several books at the same time and accidently switching the wrapper.  Receiving two at once is definately unusual.

If you don't have a pm button, click on their name/nickname and initiate a pm from their profile page.  Be sure to mention the name of the book.

Stephanie - Use the Contact Us (under Company below), and give them the ID #s, the sender's name and the names of the books, and tell them your problem.  They should be able to help you with this.

Good luck.  Pat

You sure they weren't on auto-request?

Do you have any books en route to you coming from the same states?  It's possible that it's just a coincidence that 2 people sent you the wrong book.  THey could have switched labels up and your books went to the people who requested the ones you got.

It can also be that they reprinted a wrapper rather than printing the new one.

If I'm understanding correctly, the OP actually received three books from the same person -- one that she asked for, two that she did not.

Since you should have a transaction archive for that one you did request, I'd just send her a PM about the other two and ask about them.

I had this happen to me and I let the sender know that they had sent me a book that was probably meant for someone else. I offered to send it to the right person if they sent me a credit to cover the postage. In this case, if it is two different people, they should give you two credits to cover postage.

It might have been me.  I have sent you a PM with the details of the books and what happened.

One of them was in my account because I had paid for DC.  I thought I neglected to send to the requestor.  Afterwards, I realized it was my mistake and said please keep the book (it was abridged and she requested unabridged).  Since it was my mistake, I suggested she list it so if someone else wanted it, she would be able to send it and get benefit of the 2 credits.

The other book was sent to someone in error.  I was sending a Nora Roberts book to one and a Sheryl Woods book to the other.  But, I did it the other way around.  The other member did not care for Nora Roberts but I did not know who I sent the Sheryl Woods book to.  As I would expect someone to do for me, I tried to make it right with both members.  I offered both credit to send to the right person, if I could find out the receiver.

It is always nice to let the sender know if you get the wrong book.  Usually, there is a reason and the person will probably be very grateful.  The negotiations can be handled to all the parties benefit, we hope.

Please let me know if it was me.

Thanks

I misread the OP.  It's possible that she gave someone else a deal or someone ordered 3 books from her and she mixed up who was getting 3 books and who was getting 1.

Or she just wanted to get rid of them and randomly chose 2 books to give you for free.

Since you have received other books from this member you have transactions with her, start by sending a PM to her from that transaction (there will be a PM button) asking why you are getting books you didn't request. That is the best way to clear it up.

I will ocasionally send an extra book if I have an unpostable that is on a requestors reminder list.  Maybe your sender was feeling generous? Any way I'd be sure to ask. Life can get crazy and Weird stuff happens.

How do you know what's on people's reminder lists? They aren't visible.

This has been discussed lots before, but I'm in the camp that really and truly prefers not receiving unpostable books unasked for. I can't repost them, which is annoying, and I'm really trying to limit the amount of books I'm bringing into my home. If I haven't ordered it, it can be assumed it won't be welcome. I am not a dumping ground for someone else's damaged books. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's just such a waste. They pretty much just go straight into the trash or out on my stoop.

Were they all in the same package or did they send them separately? If they were all together I'd guess they did it on purpose.

Caviglia I am totally with you on that one.  But some people post links to their reminder lists using a book list or tag.  I think they are hoping someone will offer them a deal. In that case they probably wouldn't mind getting a free unpostable.  I always ask even if I want to send someone a free unpostable WL book.  You never know if they want it for a gift or a collection.  Plus PMing them alerts them to put it on hold so they don't end up getting 2.  Sending them a free unpostable WL does them no favor if they end up requesting it from someone else because they don't know it's coming.
