I've seen lots of posts here about repeatedly receiving books that are not postable, and until recently I was one of the people who only had received a couple, nine to be exact. I should have known this run of luck would come to an end; in the past three weeks I've gotten three water damaged books, one of which had a large tear in the back cover. One swapper apologized and refunded the credit, so no complaints there. One was today and I'm waiting on a response. One of them, incidentally the one that was both water damaged and torn, has gotten no response to my PMs in a week and a half. I'm not sure if the swapper just vanished or what. I notified PBS about it but am still sort of frustrated. There are other copies of the book and I ordered one, so that's not the issue, it's just the principle of the thing.

For the most part I've had fairly good luck with a few exceptions here & there.  Unfortunately I think there are some members who just don't care what condition their books are in.  However, I also believe some people don't intend to send unpostable books & they make honest mistakes & send books in bad condition.  I guess I'm lucky that most of my luck on here has been good.  I guess the best thing to do is just mark those books RWAP so that (hopefully) over time the members who have a lot of marks against them will be noticed by PBS.

The second person has also refunded my credit, although they protested they got the book from PBS a year ago in the same shape. Three fourths of it are fine, but the lower fourth is rippled and stained from water damage. I'm the last person in the world who doesn't have a digital camera, so I can't take pictures of it. I know I got my credit back but at the same time I hate to be accused of lying.

I have had only two books that I have marked RWAP, one credit was refunded immediately.  The other I received three weeks ago and the sender has yet to respond.  Still waiting.

Carole, if the other member has not responded to a RWAP in a week you should refer the matter to PBS admin.  Check your credit archive first, b/c some members just refund a credit without additional response.  And of course, they can disagree and decline to refund your credit.  But PBS rules strongly encourage a response to RWAP.  TPTB have been known to sometimes transfer the credit themselves in cases of non-response.

They got it like that-- is the standby excuse to those who do not wish to admit they did NOT read the rules and closed their eyes when they clicked that the book was postable.  It's never a valid excuse.

That being said, I've only had about ten problem swaps in over two hundred sixty. I do have some pride in the fact I've sent out almost the same number of books, and never have had a RWAP. (I bought a book at the thrift store once to post since a lot of people had wishlisted it and I already owned it, but opened it and it was covered in writing. I just cursed and got rid of it.)

Denise, thank you.  This is the first time I have had someone not respond, so I didn't know I needed to send in a follow up.  I just did that, and marked it that the sender never responded.

Just got my credit back because in almost a month the sender never responded to the RWAP.  Thanks, again, Denise.
