I thought this might make an interesting conversation, it might belong in the CMT forum, but I like it here better most of the times!  And it includes mystery/thrillers anyway:

So, yesterday for my sister, I ordered Jefferson Bass's Carved in Bone & Flesh and Bone and put the 4th in the series (Bones of Betrayal) on my WL (I already have #3 in the series)

For me, I ordered The Death List (#1) and put The Soul Collector (#2) on my WL, they are both by Paul Johnston.

Also, for me, Denise Mina's Garnethill series, #1 Garnethill and #3 Resolution on WL and ordered #2 Exile.

And, me again, ordered Claire Matturro's #1 and #2 Skinny Dipping & Wildcat and then put #3 and 4 on my WL (Bone Valley & Sweetheart Deal)

Yesterday was a good day for me!

So, what did y'all do recently?

(oh, and...I put Tom Epperson's debut novel on my WL, The Kind One)  (for me, of course)

In the past few days, I've ordered quite a few books myself. I'm getting A Crazy Little Thing Called Death (Blackbird Sisters, Bk 6)
by Nancy Martin;  Pioneer Women by  Joanna Stratton (a history book),  The Wedding Dress by Kimberly Cates, and More Than Petticoats: Remarkable Ohio Women (More than Petticoats Series) by Greta Anderson. One of the owners was also offering a deal so I'm also getting two books that weren't on my RL but looked interesting free. :)

Mt. TBR is getting out of hand, though, so I'm only ordering more books if a WL book comes in or if I can get at least a 2-1 deal on some of the books on my reminder list.

BTW, how does everyone else keep their TBR pile down to a managable level? Since I started here, my stack has grown exponentially!

A managable TBR pile?!  I think that is an oxymoron!!!  I have 467 on mine and it is in no way managable.....I have given up.

Forgot to mention before: I have also sent out about 6 WL books to other members in the last couple of weeks.  Amazing that we find time to read, huh?

I've actually been fairly quiet lately--I don't typically order much except what my WL orders up for me anyway. But as attractive as that sounds, it still doesn't do much to keep the TBR "manageable." I've lost count again but I know it's over 500, despite a recent "weed-out weekend."

My past week's activity:

I ordered (actually, the auto-request on the WL ordered for me): Stealing The Dragon by Tim Maleeny, The Tarnished Chalice by Susanna Gregory and Slip of the Knife by Denise Mina. The first two are on the way to me and the last one still waiting to be accepted--it was posted on 4/30 and still no action on that. :-\

I sent: Purple Cane Road by James Lee Burke, Dead Beat by Jim Butcher, Get Out or Die by Jane Finnis, A Dirty Death by Rebecca Tope. I never read the first one (FOL sale book) but enjoyed the last three. Two of those were wishlisted, two were ordered from me (I'm assuming) through FIFO.

I added to my WL: The Westminster Poisoner by Susanna Gregory, Where Serpents Sleep by C.S. Harris, Crowner Royal by Bernard Knight, Playing With Bones by Kate Ellis and The Taken by Inger Ashe Wolfe. Some of those I'd previously had on my WL in hardcover and deleted them when the paperback version was available to wishlist. (Most books I really don't care to have in HC unless I want them for keeper shelf)

I deleted from WL (aside from the HC version of some of the above): The Demon and the City by Liz Williams (got it at the library after waiting over 2 years for it here--only moved up one place in line!)

I am in PBS rehab.  I am attacking my TBR pile and just posting a book here and there.  I am poking around looking for 6th Target by James Patterson.  I haven't pulled the trigger yet.   I am hoping to get a deal on a shelf that has other books I am interested in.

I am waiting for The Clockwork Teddy ( John J Lamb ) and We Wish You A Merry Murder ( Valerie Wolzien ) to be accepted/ mailed. I have Death At Wentwater Court ( Carola Dunn ) on the way to me.

Over the last month I mailed out Joanne Flukes and Stephanie Plums. I decided to list both series as I no longer wanted to keep them.

My account is on hold for a while as I try to read through Mt TBR, and recover from the cost of postage.

I have finished Sammi Carter's series and am sending them out, as well as Denise Swanson's Murder of a Royal Pain.  I have to admit though that I couldn't wait to get Goody Goody Gunshots and Swanson's book, so bought them at a bookstore!  :)

I attccked Mt TBR and read some WL books.  I didn't realize I had so many until I found that I could sort by WL.

I mailed six WL'd books

I'm reading two books that are highly WL'd, I should finish them today so they can go out  tomorrow.

I'm going to ask if anyone has Nancy Bell's Jackson Crain series.  I did find books #1 and #2 are here in mmpb (that's what I want) but if possible I'd like to get them from one person.

I haven't added to my WL but did get a four book order from Amazon.  I pre-ordered the books back in January.  I had them on my WL for a bit then realized it would be quite some time before I saw them.  So, I took them off tmy WL.  I hadn't touched the Amazon order and they arrived yesterday.  And so it goes Mt TBR has grown again.

I finished posting all the books I have in the house that haven't been read to my TBR mountain.  I know I missed some that I have put aside as a personal TBR challenge.  Mt TBR that I know about stands at 750 and 135 of them are WL'd!  Oh lordy I have my work cut out for me.  No more forums!  No, no not that!  you must read, no, no not no more forums. :>)

I ordered the first five in Steve Hamilton's Alex McKnight series.

Denise Swanson's latest, Murder of a Royal Pain, is on its way to me. (I hope that the print is bigger than the one used in her last book. My old eyes can't take itty bitty print any more. LOL)

I just mailed off the first Pennyfoot Hotel book Monday and today I'll be sending off Acqua Alta by Donna Leon and Ash and Bone by John Harvey.  I received the first Matthew Martholomew book by Susanna Gregory on Tuesday and I am anxiously awaiting Full Dark House by Christopher Fowler and The LIttle Giant of Aberdeen County by Someone Somebody.

My "official" TBR list here at PBS is only 40 or so books long (I think.  I'll have to check) but I have a stack of 13 WL books sitting next to my chair that I have to read and post back to the system.  Unfortunately, I also have a sack of 10 library books that have to be read as well.  It's a good thing that finals are over on Wednesday of next week!

Crap it's doing it again.  I typed something in both of those boxes and the post showed up empty and when I edit it shows up empty again. It did this to me the other day.

I mailed out 5 audiobooks yesterday: Break In by Dick Francis, Long Lost by JA Jance, Jester by James Patterson, Ghost Hunter by Jayne Castle and Molly Moon Saves the World-can't remember the author-it's a kids book.

I mailed out an erotica book for a game

I mailed out Living Dead In Dallas by Charlaine Harris.

I marked Ragtime In Simla by Barbara Cleverley and Storm Front by Jim Butcher as received.

I also removed myself from some WL lines because my TBR is out of control.

Mary, I had to move my wishlist around a bit, too!  I put some in the reminder list.....just getting too crazy around here!  I have Cypress Nights and Dead Over Heels on my tbr and since you have just reminded me of them, I may have to move them up the list!  There are times it just gets aggravating trying to decide "what next" so I suppose that is as good a reason as any to get to them quicker!  I think I will finish up the 2 and 1/2 I have left in my Michael McGarrity series first.

Carol they were both good books. I didn't realize Cypress Nights was part of of a series.  I had not trouble following it all though.

This week I mailed out Mrs. Jeffries and the Best Laid Plans and Delilah Doolittle and the Purloined Pooch. I haven't ordered any books for myself the last few weeks. I'm trying to concentrate on MT TBR. Officially I have 273 on TBR here, but I haven't been adding the books I've bought elsewhere for months, so the actual total is much higher. The biggest problem is I keep getting books from the library and that isn't helping whittle the pile down at all.

Susan, the only one I have read is the Patterson, and it has been so long ago that I don't remember how good it was.  I continued on with the series, if that tells you anything....so, yeah, I probably would order it.  Not sure about the others, tho!

edited to add: since I started the OP, I have also added to my tbr and my wl (many times over) - ugggggg!  Maybe this wasn't a good thread to start!  It is one thing to think all of these books are just arriving out of the blue and quite another to admit (in writing even)  that I am the one doing the deed!!!

Ths week has been insane! I've mailed a lot and requested a ton. I may need to put my shelf on hold and banish myself from the forums for a while I try to put a dent in my TBR. :)

I have mailed 7 books and have 8 more to mail today-- mostly WL, Antiques Roadkill by Barbara Allen, a Goosebumps 2000 book, two Red Dress Ink books, and Song of the Bones by someone who's name I can't recall.

I have requested and awaiting mailing by others: Here Today, Gone to Maui by Carol Snow, The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory, Death of a Domestic Diva : A Toadfern Mystery by Sharon Short, Girl With The Phony Name by Charles Mathes, Simply Irresistible by Rachel Gibson, and The Gentle Tamers: Women of the Old Wild West by Dee Alexander Brown. Most were reminder list books picked up as part of deals, so they will be coming with 1-3 other books from my RL each.

I also have a bunch on the way: More Than Petticoats: Remarkable Ohio Women by Greta Anderson,A Crazy Little Thing Called Death (Blackbird Sisters, Bk 6) by Nancy Martin, The Baby Trail by Sinead Moriarty, Perfume : The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Suskind, Conversations With The Fat Girl by Liza Palmer,  False Angel by Edith Layton,  Long, Lean, and Lethal by Heather Graham,  Where's Mom Now That I Need Her? Surviving Away from Home by Kent P. Frandsen, Kathryn J. Frandsen, Betty Rae Frandsen,  Buttons and Foes (Mandy Dyer) by Dolores Johnson, Sleep of Death: A Shakespearean Murder Mystery by Philip Gooden, A Fugitive Truth : An Emma Fielding Mystery by Dana Cameron,  The Midnight Heather of Bridee Castle by Beverly C. Warren, Body Check by Deirdre Martin,  Haunted Indiana, Volume 1 by Mark Marimen, Maggie Needs an Alibi by Kasey Michaels.  Again, most were reminder list books picked up in deals so they will be accompanied by 1-3 other RL books each.

Is there a support group or intervention team for this site, LOL? I've already vowed not to look at my reminder list through the end of the month and to only order books if my WL turn comes up or if someone emails me in response to my posts with a deal on the specific books for which I'm looking.

Off to read... Bye!
