(I realize the Narnia books aren't exactly "hidden" gems, but I'm beginning to think that a good hardcover version just might be! I posted this request on the "children's books" forum a couple weeks ago and didn't get a response, so I'm hoping this forum might be more widely read....) I'm looking for a hardcover version of the Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis), and I was hoping somebody might have a recommendation. Here's specifically what I'm trying to find: -All 7 books (unabridged) in one volume -All the Pauline Baynes illustrations -no "movie covers" (i.e. pictures from any of the movies) -no essays or other text - just the books themselves!

I saw an interesting leather bound Chronicles of Narnia book at Barnes and Noble. I don't know what kind of illustrations it has (if any) since the book was wrapped in plastic. |

Thanks so much for the recommendation - this is great! It doesn't have quite all the illustrations (just the ones at the beginning of the chapters); and it does include some excerpts from "Beyond the Wardrobe" at the end, but those excerpts actually add to the text in a good way. It's really a beautiful edition and seems well worth getting, at least until somebody prints a 7-in-1 with all the illustrations, which I'm beginning to think might not actually exist right now :-) Anyway, thank you! |
