I'm taking an extended trip this summer (3 months) and I'd like some new books to take with me.  Only they have to be small (preferably paperback) because of the baggage weights on the airlines these days.

Any recommendations?  I'm pretty much open to anyting, but I have to be in the right frame of mind to read straight romance.  Romance in books, though, is totally okay.

Could you name some books you've really liked recently so I have something to base my suggestions on? :)

Let's see, I love retold fairy tales, and I've read all of the current Once Upon a Time Books.  I enjoyed Meg Cabot's Mediator series, but not the Princess Diaries books so much.  I did like her historical romances, but mostly because of the history and not so much the romance.  I do like historical fiction a lot, especially Ann Rinaldi's books.

Does that help any?  :)

I always like to have a book of short stories while on a plane.  I'm taking one of the Firebird anthologies.  I'm also sending a box of books by media rate to where I'm going to be.

That's a good idea Emily.  I won't know what my address it until I arrive (:/) but perhaps I can get a friend to send them to me...
