I need some recommendations on some good chick lit... I don't normally read it, but I need something different and lighter.  Also if you have any deals on any chick lit.  thanks

I like Erin McCarthy, Kirsten Sawyer has a couple of good ones, Lynda Curnyn, not sure if she's considered chick lit or not but Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Weiner, Jennifer Crusie. These a some of my favorites. All their books are light fun reads.

I don't read a lot of chick lit either, but it has its purpose.  On long bus or train rides, I enjoy Sophie Kinsella's books (Shopaholic series, Can You Keep A Secret? etc).  I think Can YOu Keep A Secret is on my bookshelf right now.  I LOVED the Bridget Jones books by Fielding, and the other book by her called Olivia Joules.  Sorry I can't remember the entire title.  The Nanny Diaries was a much better book than it was a movie (Sorry, Laura Linney and Scarlett Johanssen.  You guys rock but the film just didn't) IMHO)

Hi Mary,

I'm a fan of chick lit but just recently got into reading it - ALOT!  Here is a webpage that helped me pick a few winners:  www.candycoveredbooks.com.  Happy Reading!  :)

I absolutely adore chick lit! I read it during the summer mostly, and occasionally during the school year to break up the monotonany! I love Sophie Kinsella, Jane Green (excluding Mr. Maybe), Janet Evanovich, Emily Giffin, Rowan Coleman, Dorothy Koomson, and I'm sure many more!

Has anyone read Jennifer Weiner? I've read "In Her Shoes" and really enjoyed it, but then I read another one (not sure which one) and didn't really like it. Any suggestions?

I have The Washingtonienne on my shelf. It's a tad dirty, but isn't a lot of chick lit? But it is very light and fun.

There is no deal on it, but considering I bought it for $15 a year ago, I don't think 1 credit is too bad. Plus it's in REALLY good condition.

Jennifer Weiner is what I would consider one of the standout names of chick lit. Like, she's just known for it/associated with it. I've read a lot of her stuff. I sometimes get her confused with Jennifer Crusie. :-) But I know I'll enjoy their stuff. MOST. I think Jennifer Weiner writes some of the chick lit mystery stuff, which I don't go for. Just not very into the mysteries. But you really can't go wrong with her, go for it,

Heather

As the other poster said, anything by Jennifer Weiner is terrific.  I also really like Sophie Kinsella with the Shopaholic series.  Meg Cabot is terrific.  One of the most recent books I've read that was FANTASTIC was Rattled by Debra Galant.  She has another one called Fear and Loathing in New Jersey that I can't wait to read (waiting on my wish list!).  Enjoy!

I really enjoyed "The Devil Wears Prada" and "The Nanny Diaries."  The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books were a big hit with a lot of my female friends, too.
