I just finished the whole series - Recursion, Capacity & Divergence.
I think the author was extremely successful in his debut novel & trilogy.
Tony has furthered the British science fiction tradition and if you like Neal Asher than you will want to read this series. Tony weaves complex narratives & story lines with hard sci-fi - great tech - with wonderful humanistic details.

The thing I love about science fiction is that you can create environments that push & tweak the psyche to give greater insight into humanity. Tony Ballantyne created a wonderfully interactive environment that pushes & pulls at human destiny.

I don't read much sci-fi but this one I could actually understand (I went thru several other books before finding this one). The theme was something we are closer to than ever as a sociey. Not all and everything that happened but for the most part of the story. I liked Herb the most.
