Out of this series, this one particular book is the one that I always remembered little bits of for some reason. Maybe it's because it takes place in Las Vegas, maybe it's because of all of the flashbacks to alchemy and the Middle Ages, but either way, this is one of my faves from the Last Vampire series.
This is my first time reading this series and I can see why teens might like it. I found the book a bit lacking, but good to read. The first book goes back and forth from past to present, giving the reader a good sense of who she was before she was turned.
The only part that I disliked from this book was how much Sita resembled that of a heroine. With her gifts and abilities I was a bit disappointed to see her portrayed as such a weak woman. Her abilities to overcome defeat was shown many times yet how she got into such a predicament was what disturbed me. I love books that show women as intelligent, strong, and independent.
