First in a two-part series about life in prehistoric times. Very accurate, historically and geographically. The author is a respected anthropologist and not only knows her field, but obviously loves it.
The story is told from an interesting, alternating double perspective - a young, living woman named Yanan, and Yanan the spirit.
A great read and, in my opinion, every bit as good as Clan of the Cave Bear.
If you love books such as The Clan of the Cave Bear series---you will enjoy this one.
I lived and breathed this book...Yanan is fascinating, completely riviting and Magnificent.A novel of ice-age times a story of human
struggles to stay alive...this book takes you on a journey you will never forget.
Yanan is a girl born 20,000 years ago, and this story is Yanan's story of her jurney and survival in a magnificent world before the ice melt.
Similiar as Auel..good story. Great read for summer.
Someone gave me this book and Ive never read it. Hope someone will take it and enjoy it.
This novel is good, and very well written, the characters are real people, and it gives an excellent glimpse of what the stone age might have looked like without any fantasy elements thrown in.
My name is Yanan and my story begins where it will end...
She was born over 20,000years ago, in a lodge on the ice-swept tundra, in a land where death was always near. Her people were hunters, living in a kinship with the tigers and the wolves, struggling throught the long winters when meat and wood were scarce...rejoicing in the brief, glorious summers. And in this land of great and terrible beauty. Yanan survived to womanhood-passionate and brave, richly sensuous and dangerously proud. From the perils of the hunt to the timeless wonders of lave and marriage, birth and death, Yanan's life was a grand and thrilling adventure in a harsh, magnificent world...
I have not read this book. It looks like it would be a great book for those who have read The Clan of the Cave Bear..
