Whether you are religious or not, this book is a fascinating look at religion and belief. This is NOT a "new atheism" book. Instead, it looks at the difference between religious practise and blind faith, and it is not hostile to religion at all. People with some understanding of the Christian religion will probably find it the most useful because that is the religion looked at the most, but the ideas in it are valuable to anyone and especially interesting for students of social sciences or history.
