This weekend I picked up a book at a thrift store and then noticed that it has a remainder mark on the bottom of it. Is this postable? I saw a post the other day where someone had a book with a name written on the side opposite the spine and an email response from PBS said this would be like an ex-library book having markings and that it was OK. Would remainder marks fall in this category too and be OK, or would they fall under the "No marks or writing" rule? If it makes any difference, the mark is about two inches long. |

What is a remainder mark FOR? I know what they are, but why are they there? |

Books with remainder marks are postable, though I cringe everytime I see one. It just bothers me to see a book defaced like that. |
