The events described in this story could have occurred in any small town in the South. The story is compelling. I learned a little about the policital climate in the south during this time period. The characters are believeable, complex and easy to love. I enjoyed reading this book and did not want to say goodbye to any of the characters when I got to the end. I was happy to find the second book, "Carley's Song".

Delightful book based on the family memories of two cousins and the childhood years they spent growing up together in a racially changing south. Follow Abby & Carley around and get a peek into a world long changed.
