I liked it. Very typical Calvin Trillin. His writting is direct, humorous, with a touch of sarcaim and sadness. Here he speaks of Yale in the 50s and changes in the 60s and 70s. The focus is what it is like to be a young high achiever and the expectations of oneself and others when the potential seems to be without limits.

Interesting biography/memoir. Trillin tries to make sense of his college friend's suicide as well as understand the forces that shaped their generation. Somewhat depressing, but well-written.
