I've heard that in cases where you mail a book to someone who hasn't logged in, hasn't checked email, doesn't respond, etc, PBS will go in and check in the book for you. But do you have to message them? It doesn't just magically happen automatically, does it? I posted a WL book to an auto request, and I think it's going to go lost (it was a small book, mailed first class weeks ago, and the member never responded/read the message I sent a few days ago). I know, I know, they don't have to read/respond, I'm just asking, do you actively have to "alert" PBS to look into it? Thanks.

PS: Personally, if I was going to leave PBS, I would use up all my credits instead of leaving the account open and on auto-WL, but I know (sad) things happen where people may not "choose" to leave, etc.

You need to wait until after the 26 days.  Then PBS will review their account if you ask.  They may mark the books as received if the member has not logged in.

Otherwise, there is a secret number of missed orders before the members are flagged for review.

Before the book is marked "lost" by the server, the member will get emails asking him if the book has arrived yet, and asking him to mark it received if it has.  If he hasn't logged on to the site for a while (and we don't know how long "a while" is) he'll get an email asking him to log on.  If he doesn't,  the server will mark the book "received" rather than "lost."

This time of year folks can be on vacation when a book arrives, especially if it was on auto-request it would be mailed without the member doing anything to confirm that they are home to receive it.  So don't panic before the 'lost date' as they may not be home to mark it received.

Those reminder emails do go out.  But my last update make my junk filter quite useless.  All of PBS's addresses are entered as approved addresses, yet all of my emails head directly to my junk folder.  Very recent and very frustrating.  Re added the address and the librarian to both my mail program and my server.  Argh!  I must not be the only member this has happened to.  At least I'm here every day to check.
