I always put books from my bookshelf on my reminder list so that I can tell how many copies are in the system. I was looking at my reminder list today and noticed that a book I have on my bookshelf said there were 0 copies in the system. I checked my bookshelf and it is still posted. Why would it say there are 0 copies when I have one?

What the book on your shelf recently posted and in a Wish List hold at the time? Was it perhaps on Hold instead of posted? Is it still on your shelf and showing as 0? What is the title? We can see if we see it on your public shelf.

I've noticed that some books listed as available on Author pages (complete with Order button), when added to the reminder list, show 0 copies in the system. Checking back later those titles were no longer among those listed as available. I wonder if there isn't just a bit of a delay between the book having been posted and being listed in the system as available, and then likewise the book being requested and the system bringing the count down by 1.

The Book is "I'm Dancing as Fast as I can". It has been on my bookshelf for 10 months and is not marked as hold. And I know it is the same format as the one on my bookshelf because I put it on my reminder list from the bookshelf.

It shows as having 1 copy posted when I put it on my RL

I can see it on your Bookshelf and my Reminder List says 1 copy available so I am going to guess that it is the obvious sneaky answer - the system doesn't count the book for YOU because it is your own book. It won't let you order the book from yourself.

OK, so I guess all those other books on my reminder list that say only one copy in the system means one copy besides mine. I just never noticed any of my books having 0 copies before.

I never really thought about it either until looking at your situation here. It makes sense, I just didn't think the system would do that much thinking wink

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that PBS is not that clever. There would be no purpose for not counting your own copy of the book when you view it on the RL (that I can think of, anyway).

Is it possible that the browser is caching that page for you? I bet if you clear your internet cache, you might see updated numbers.

I do the same thing, and the number of copies always includes mine.
