This I did, without originally contemplating a general publication. The circumstance that this narrative was first intended only for a small number of persons who might be assumed t.o take a special interest in everything concerning the subject, may explain the breadth and copiousness of detail in the descriptions of situations and events, which perhaps will occasionally try the reader's patience.
