Back during a time about 10-15 years ago, when my daughter was in elementary school, a favorite after-school snack for several months was Pepperidge Farm garlic cheese rolls. These were a sliced jelly-roll type "spiral" roll, with the garlic & cheese filling rolled up between the bread, as I recall -- was a frozen product -- we would bake them and dunk them in heated pizza sauce and they were GREAT! Alas, only a few months after we discovered them, they quit being in our stores. I contacted the company a few times and, though I never got a clear answer, I guess they quit making them. (I can't imagine WHY!) Do any of you remember these? And does anyone know of another brand of something like this or, better yet, have a recipe for replicating them at home? I've tried a few recipes, but the results, while good in a way, was too "bready" and heavy to be a good copy of the PF product we remember so fondly. My daughter and I both still yearn for them sometimes, and I'd love to come up with a good substitute, even after all this time. Thanks! Gina |
