I have had alot of my wish list book posted and then they never are mailed and if I try and P.M. the person about them there is usually no reply? All my wish list is auto order so these book are being posted currently. Is anyone else having this problem?

The only thing I can think of is that your request are being turned down because of your requestor conditions.  Do you have any listed?

or it could be a newbie that doesn't realize that they have WL'd books and haven't come back...although they should get an email that they have a request but maybe they can't check in that often?

I think I have read some threads over the last month or two after PBS got a big shot of publicity and then people didn't get that they needed to mail the books or something

I think that some new members may not realize that when they post a book they're making it available for trade. I know I posted a couple of books that I hadn't read yet. Luckily, they weren't wishlisted at the time and realized my error before they were requested, LOL!

Personally, I'd say not to PM the other member and just let the system do its thing. If someone keeps posting WL books and then not mailing them, the system will likely suspend the accounts.

Other possibilities:

  • WL books are being double-posted (which is a known glitch sometimes. Post once, have two offers given to two separate members.),
  • a WL post directly to someone's shelf that fails (and goes to FIFO instead, leaving the poster to cancel the accidental FIFO order),
  • the poster expects to finish the book before the mail-by date comes around and misses the mark,
  • or "life happens". :)

But you are right Heather, it would be nice if they would at least acknowledge the messages sent to them.

If you have conditions it's possible that's why your getting requests denied.  What are the conditions?  If you're asking for PMs before mailing the book, asking for mint-condition books or asking for special wrapping-that might be the problem. If it's for non-smoking, maybe you've just had a run of smokers posting your WL books.

Or are the requests just timing out? If so then you should be put back on the WL in the same spot.  I think it sends an email if your request is turned down because of conditions.

ETA: I haven't had a problem with WL offers timing out. But almost everytime I order a book from FIFO it times out on at least 1 person before being accepted.
