Need some help here, please.

There are 9 copies in the system of a book that I want. I requested one and it showed up in my account as requested. I have gone back to the system and ordered the same title again 5 times and processed the orders. When I go into my account it shows I've only requested one copy. Anyone had this happen before? Do I need to wait a day between requests, maybe? I sure do need all those copies and don't want them to be scooped up by other members......which I doubt would happen, it's not a real popular book. It's just one my Dad wants to give all his children and grandkids, so, I thought I could help him out by requesting them from PBS.

Any help from any member out there, sure would be appreciated.

Becki

I'm still looking to confirm this in the help center, but I don't think you will be able to order another copy until the first one has been marked mailed. I don't know why.

You can request only one copy at a time.  This shows up often in the teacher's forum.  There is a safety built in that your request has to reach a certain point before the next one happens.  Printed?  Received?  Marked mailed?

You can ask your PBS friends to order you a copy and have it shipped to your address.  And buddy a credit.  But this option removes the ability to RWAP if there are issues. (I frequently see the teachers asking and ordering for each other.)

(Agh ETA grammar!  When talking about teachers!)

Yep, and also, just because it says there are nine copies availabe doesn't always mean there really are, chances are a few of those will time out.

Note that the "one copy at a time" rule is limited by ISBN; if there are multiple editions (multiple ISBNs) available and the details (binding, sometimes publisher) don't matter to you, you can order multiple copies of the same book that way.  This works particularly well with "classics" that have been issued by multiple publishers, i.e. "Tom Sawyer".

Yes, you can ask for some volunteers to help you ... you buddy a credit and your address to them, and these members will then order the book for you, mailed to your address. I've done it before for someone who was collecting a book for a reading group.
