Good Morning: Today I got a "request accepted" for a WL book "The Darkest Fire" www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373772322-The+Darkest+Kiss. Can someone tell me how is this possible? Thanks! Jeanette |

It's possible that someone with a connection to a publishing company might receive early copies of books before they're available to the general public. Or, this could be an ARC (Advance Reader's Copy) of the book which is sent to reviewers before the book is finalized. ARCs are NOT postable for credit on PBS, so if this is what you get you should mark "received with a problem" and request a credit back. If someone has an ARC they are welcome to offer it free with an order from their shelf. |

It's also possible that the publisher moved up the release date. I had a similar experience with a Fern Michaels book. The book was not supposed to be out until May but the publisher released it in April instead. |

I noticed this is a HQN book. These books are often 'pre-released' to members of the Harlequin Book Club prior to the general release. Since this is slated for a June 1 general release, it may have been part of a members May book package. |

I noticed that Walmart often sells books before the actual publishing date. It happens. Also, the Amayon publishing dates aren't always the right ones.

The Romantic Times convention was a couple of weeks ago, and often authors and publishers give away early copies of their books to conference attendees. These aren't ARC's, but just early copies of an upcoming release. Also, author web sites and review web sites sometimes get early copies to give away as contest prizes, promotional items, etc.

One of my local drugstores frequently puts out books several days before it is supposed to. |

Oh boy - can't wait to get it! I was worried that it was going to be a mistake somehow and then I'd lose my position on the WL. Thanks! |

I would make sure you check it out carefully before marking it received when you do get it--since ARCs are NOT allowed, if that is what was sent, you would need to mark it received with a problem and probably ask for your credit back since you wouldn't be able to repost it. ARCs or Uncorrected Proofs will be labeled as such, usually fairly clearly on the front and/or back covers and it will likely also say somewhere, "not for resale." Hopefully though it's just a case of an early release. :) Cheryl |

That particular one has been out in digital format for over a week. I got it for my Sony reader last Wednesday or so. I suspect it was released early in other formats as well. |

Sometimes books are released earlier than their scheduled release date. I've posted several books recently that came out before the date they were scheduled to come out. |

True, if you are in a publisher book club you will get the books before release, one I'm in I get about 2 weeks before, and I believe Harlequin now lets you pre-order at their site so maybe those are shipped out earlier too. I've won books direct from authors that I got a few weeks before release, and those were not arcs - publishers often send authors a shipment to use for contests or as they will. |

Harlequin lets you order a month in advance, and book club members get them early too. That's probably it. |
