Hi there,

I just received a request for a book that isn't on my bookshelf. Meaning it isn't listed on my BS on PBS, but I received a request. Isn't that weird? How did that happen? Does it happen often?

Should I cancel the request?  How do I prevent this from happening again?

Is it a book that was previously listed but already requested and sent? Is it a book you got from here and didn't remove from your bookshelf when you marked it received, then accidentally took off hold? (The default is to put the book on your bookshelf on hold unless you change that button to NO when checking it in.)

I had a couple of books requested after I took my account off vacation hold--books that had previously been requested from me and sent already. There was some sort of glitch in the system at that time.

I think someone else had a thread not too long ago - the same thing happened...she never had the book on her shelf!

I was going to ask the same thing as Spuddie-did you receive it from PBS and then accidentally take it off hold?  I don't let it put any books on hold on my shelf just incase I do this.

Okay, I'm bumping this up--I remembered this thread when a book I ordered was cancelled with the reason stated as "I do not have this book."  I didn't PM her to investigate further, and it might certainly be coincidental, but it seemed odd.

It was a book that was on my Reminder List and had no copies but not a wishlist either, and it's coming up soon in one of the series I read. I check my reminder list several times a week so when I noticed a copy of the book had been posted I ordered it--so it wasn't a book that had been sitting in the system for ages or anything. So maybe there is some sort of glitchy thing going on? I dunno. Weird.
