I really feel like screaming sometimes. I have had some of my wish list books offered to me when posted ,then the request is cancled by the sender. I had one book on my wish list (they are all auto) cancled because she couldn't find the book. What is up with that? They had just posted it so now i'm supposed to believe they cant find it?  The next one said she didn't know her husband had given it to goodwill. These were WL books on auto so they must have been just posted. I am talking about books I was #1 in line for. As long as im ranting I wish I wasnt having to help weed out so many  people with the no answer in the alloted time . Thanks for letting me rant !  terrylovesbooks

I know what you mean Terry!  I had a WL book come up last month, on auto request.  The sender cancelled saying she had sent it to someone else that morning!

Even if I was the 2nd or 3rd wisher it had rolled to (and I don't know if that was the case), she had to have known it was considered "taken" when there was a lengthy WL on it.

Terry,    I received a request for a book from PBS. I searched my shelf for it to no avail. My books are kept in one location, so it wasn't likely that it was misplaced. I looked and looked, until I was almost batting my head against the wall, thinking this LOL is REALLY becoming an LOL! I PMed the requestor and apologized profusely for "my" mistake, and then removed the book from my shelf and let PBS know why the book couldn't be sent. In a few days I  was checking for something in my transaction archive and low and behold, there was the book - it had been sent and received a few months before. I have no idea how it showed up again on my shelf, even with the same date as I entered it before. I let  the site know, but others knowledgeable about the site told me that this "glitch" happens occassionally. I don't know if that's what happened in your case, but like me, it's a possibility.

There are occasionally good reasons to cancel it.  I had one that I posted that was on a WL the other day and had to cancel it.  It has snowed up here alot recently and the seal on my garage is not so good so when it warmed up one day the garage floor flooded.  Well all my books are on a table out in the garage and when I went to get it I accidentally dropped it on the ground and got it all wet so I had to cancel the request so I am sure there are some valid reasons for cancellations but I agree it is annoying that it happens so frequently :)

I was first in line for a WL, I was online when the email came to me so I instantly requested it. Waited for a week to get a response from the other person saying they couldn't find it. I found that odd as well. I know several people here say they use other sites for their books, I think they'll go with the better deal for them to send the book out. It's annoying for sure. I've gotten two other WL offers and requested them within hours of the email coming in and them be canceled for no reason.

I've had the same thing happen to me where a book I've sent out has somehow stayed posted on my shelf.  Every once in a while I print out my bookshelf list and compare it to what is actually physically on my bookshelf and I always find a couple things to correct.

Peggy I would love to go through my shelf and I really should but it would take days!!!!!!!!!!  I have over 2000 books posted and I cant just go through them and check titles against the list. I would start reading the backs of books flipping through  them  removing some to keep I just can't take that chance. LOL

This happened to me this week. The person posted the book as both a hardcover and a paperback but she only had one copy and already sent it out. *sigh* The person is a new member though and I did make some mistakes when I joined. She has many other books on her shelf so she will probably be a great swapper.
