I un-holded my account yesterday. I had a book that I requested pop up. I said yes, ship to my address. Now its gone - totally gone. No cancel, nothing. Did PBS burp? |

NEver mind. I found it via email. Sadly, the member doesn't understand the RCs. My only condition is that hardcovers have DJs. This book is a pb and the member declined my request. My RCs don't even apply! Ugh.
Oh well. Its been moved to my reminder list so at least I have the title. |

Merrill, I have the same RC, and I run into the same problem all the time. It drives me crazy! |

I don't think the OP was saying that they tried to pass off a paperback as a hardcover. But that she requested a paperback and was turned down for her hardcover RCs. Meaning that they didn't read or understand that the RCs only applied to hardcover books. I would just turn the RC off before I requested a paperback. |

I do what Mary says and turn off my RCs for paperbacks. But sometimes I forget, so I've changed my RC to read:
"I the book I'm requesting is a paperback this doesn't apply. For hardcovers, I request that they come with dustjackets. Thanks!" So far, haven't gotten turned down for any paperback requests because of the RC. |

Because I have a mix of HC and paperback on my WL and want to leave them on auto request, I word mine this way: If I ordered a book listed as a paperback in the system, I have no other conditions. I can't wait to read it :) If I ordered a Hardcover ... |

My RC reads If I ordered a Hardcover, and it doesn't have a dustjacket, please do not send. If I ordered a paperback, ignore this RC. Thank you, |

Sadly, though, some people don't even read the RC, they just decline the moment one pops up... it doesn't matter how well you word it. Don't worry- I hope another one comes up for you soon :) |

Yes, I think the "I don't understand the RC" is a way of putting a reason not to send a book to a person with RC's. JMO. I don't think it's that hard to understand or reason through. I usually think that they just don't want to send it because you had RC's. Ruth |
