I've had that happen - I did take a couple of days hunting for it several times before cancelling...  Very embarrassing.

I later learned that one of my nieces had borrowed a couple of books without telling me.  That's when I moved my PBS shelf to my bedroom!

I don't post until the book is in front of me as once I was going to post one I just finished reading and then I went to get it it wasn't there anymore. Either a friend took it or someone doing work on the house must have. I never figured that one out.

Boy, do I sympathize. I've been looking for a book for the last 5 days and it's driving me crazy. I posted it about 5 years ago. Sometimes I go back and there it is, but a different cover than I was looking for. This one I may have thrown out during a purge. (I have over 1,600 books on my shelf.) So why is it still on my shelf? I just don't know!!!

I've had that happen once or twice... books I forgot to take off my shelf after doing a freebie deal.  I've learned from it though and now add a note to the books page after I remove it (so I know why it's not on the transaction page)

Adrienne, several months ago Linda R. (lionrose) posted a tip that works great for freebies.

  • On the book description page, click More Options > Mail-to-a-friend
  • Then fill in the info.  You can copy/paste if you have another window/tab open with the receiver's address.  This will add the book(s) to the one(s) you're getting credit for (handy for Printable Postage users, too)
  • Once you click the order that it's been mailed, the freebies will go on a separate tab - something like Mailed to Friend
  • When the receiver gets the books, you will need to manually click that the freebie(s) was received, but the added bonus is they go in your Transaction Archive.

I wish they would have the recipient's name, at least if it's another member, but it will have your name instead.  Regardless, if you filter by books sent, they will be listed.  It takes a little extra effort, but worth it to me.

Eh, it happens.  Twice I've gone looking for a book to send, only to find it has disappeared into thin air.  I think the gremlins took it.

Thanks for the tip.  Just leaving a note on the book data page works fine for me, less steps, lol.

I wish they'd make it easier to search the transaction page though.

I posted my list of books about 2 years ago and I don't even know what is back there now. I think I am going to look them up and start over

because waiting for a book and having it cancelled on me is very frustrating, it has happened every time I have ordered here lately. I have even considered dropping out of book swap. I love book swap and don't really want to do that but that just tells you how frustrated I am. Please just remember that next time you put it out there that you have a book when you aren't really sure about it! Thanks to you all. Have a wonderful day!

It works both ways...  Twice in the past year, I've bought a book and forgotten to remove it from my wishlist -then had it offered to me- in both of these cases, I was the only wisher, so I accepted the book, then reposted.  I figure going through the motions and paying the postage when it/they are ordered will be a salutary lesson to myself.

A book I requested just timed out. Well over 5 days waiting and request was finally cancelled. The member I requested from has over 1700 books on their shelf. Must have gone on vacation or maybe died. who knows?
