This message is more for new members than experienced ones. I received a request for a book and mailed it off. Today I was told the member received the book, but was demanding the credit back as I did not fulfill the Requestor Condition "will not accept library books". Not remembering such, I looked in my Transaction Archive and discovered no such "requester condition" attached to the book request. Then I realized the member stated the condition was on his 'member page.' I looked at this page and, sure enough, on his "profile" it said he did not want ex-library books. I told the member that the requester condition must be attached to the request and would not return the credit. I also asked the PBS staff if this was correct, and they agreed with me. They also provided the link showing the member how to create the requester condition so it is attached to the request. I passed that on. Once again, I am happy to point out how great our PBS team is. I sent this message in the evening, not expecting to receive a reply until tomorrow at the earliest. I received an answer quickly. Thanks team! Since most members probably do not look at your page for anything that resembles a requester condition, you must go into Settings to create one that is attached to your request when you make one. What follows is the PBS team's response with the member's ID deleted: Since [member] did not submit the request for this book with "no library books" Requestor Conditions, he did not stipulate that the book could not be an ex-library book. If the book met all of the club criteria and the only issues with it stemmed from it being an ex-library book, then this would not have been a problem swap. You are so right Thomas, I have seen such things on people's profiles (like allergy to cats or dust) and wonder "how are people supposed to know that?" There is NO expectation that we are going to 'background check' a requestor before we mark a request 'accepted'. |

I thank you for taking the time and effort to both research and post this. Good info for all of us...it is not just the new members who aren't up to speed on how things work at PBS... |

Can I state how rare it is for me to actually check the bookshelf header or profile? I can see listing deals there, but conditions? No! Thanks to PBS, we have the wonderful RC option. |
