I recently received a book via the FIFO system with water/liquid damage for the last 100 pages.  I let the sender know that it had that damage and I didn't know for sure that it was sent that way or happened via the post office due to our weather across the country this past week.

She replied she knowingly sent it with water damage and informed me that this is a "used book" website and if I want "like new" books I should put that in my requestor conditions.  And she asked me not to order books from her again.  Of course, I didn't know who I was getting the book from via the FIFO system.   I did reply that no water damage is a PBS guideline for posting books.

Question:  Do you think it necessary to put no water damage as requestor conditions when that is the first item of unpostability on the PBS guidelines?

TIA~  Irene

I'm hoping that you marked this book RWAP because that is what it is...if you did I would forward TPTB her PM stating that she knew the book was unpostable.  They need to know that she is intentionally sending out books that do not meet site rules.

No, you should not have to set an RC for people to simply follow the rules.

It shouldn't be necessary to have an RC about water damage because posting a water damaged book is strictly against the rules of the site.  Send her a copy of the rule stating this and request your credit back.  I would also contact TPTB and let them know that this member knowingly posted an unpostable book.

I agree with the advice you've been given already.  Yes, this is a used book trading site, but not for ALL used books regardless of conditions.   All books still have to meet the PBS standards in order to be posted.

Remind her that when she posted the book she agreed that the book met the PBS conditions standard, and that posting water-damaged books are strictly against PBS requirements.  Ask her for your credit to be returned.

Irene, really just adding a "me too", I guess.  I do not think an RC is necessary, I would copy the HC info to her and request my credit back and I would absolutely let TPTB know she sent it on purpose if she doesn't return the credit.

Yes, you definitely need to send a feedback about this member's comments. She sounds like she is also a member of other book sites that don't have any special rules on conditions of the books. She needs to know and abide by the rules set by PBS.
