So I sent out a book almost a month ago & the requestor has not marked it recieved in the system. I do not use tracking but have never had a problem with books getting lost. I also PM'ed the person to ask if they had recieved it (thinking maybe it got lost) but have not gotten a reply & it was almost a week ago. So what do I do now that this requestor seems to have disappeared??? Normally I wouldn't care so much if I didn't get a credit but this book was BRAND NEW! I had it on my WL but no one seemed to be posting it so I bought it, read it, & passed on. If I report it after the "do not contact us before date" will I get my credit? What does PBS do in this situation?

If you didn't use PBS DC and the sender doesn't mark it received, unfortunately you are out your credit. Books DO go lost sometimes. It would be nice if the person responded to your PM, but there's really nothing you can do except contact the post office if you want to initiate a "lost package" search. (See the help docs for more information on this.)

I forgot to ask...did the requestor actually read your PM? Maybe they've been away. If you go to "personal messages" and click the "from me" tab, then click "unread" it will show with a check mark if she has NOT read it.

I believe if the account is "inactive" you will get your credit when the book goes lost.

Yep, hasn't been read yet. Just looked at their profile too & it shows 0 books mailed & 0 books recv'd. Hope I didn't just send it to someone who will never show up on PBS again.

PBS likes you to give a week for people to respond.  They will mark a book received if they deem the account inactive, assuming they still have the credit in the account. It would have been refunded when the book went lost.  They should still have the credit-if they came on to spend the refunded credit then PBS would know they are still active and probably assume that the book did indeed go lost.(some people only come on if they have a transaction to deal with and may not come on just to read a PM-they may be hoping the book shows up soon).  But it's also possible that they ended up with a credit negative and you may not get it.  A credit negative can happen if a book goes list, you spend the credit and then the lost book shows up and you mark it received.

Ginger--

Just wanted to let you know that if there are dashes "-" under books mailed and books received, it doesn't mean they haven't sent or received any books, just that they choose to keep this information private.

I do hope the book you sent gets to its destination and that you get your credit for it!
