In the last three days I've gotten requests for books I don't have, and have never had, namely, Hamlet and The Lord of the Rings.

Is this some kind of a computer glitch -- these books are clearly not on any of my lists?

And now I'm more confused...  I found one of the physical books (Lord of the rings) even though it doesn't appear on my PBS Bookshelf.  Am I looking in the wrong place (My Account/My Bookshelf)?

I think I've figured it out.  I learned that "You will not see the book on your bookshelf when it is actively involved in a request."  I've now located the two physical books that were requested.  Too bad I cancelled one request.

You're too quick! smiley

For future reference, here a help doc: I got a request for a book I don't have!

One thing that helps me when I receive a request and don't recognize a book is to look at the tranaction on my My Account page.  Over on the right, it will show the date I posted the book.  I then go to my bookshelf, sort it by "date", and look for other books I posted on the same date.  Often that's enough to jog my memory.

I've gotten requests before where I was like "I have that book?" but there it was. Our memories are getting old, lol.

I once posted a book that I know I had.  When it was requested I couldn't find it.  I went through all my books several times, my bookshelf of books I want to read (I'd already read that book), and several other places.  I waited several days and finally had to cancel the transaction.  Never did find the book either.  Glad you found at least one of them.  Pat

I've cancelled a couple now after looking at every single book I own and not seeing it anywhere only to find it some time later on the very same shelves I scoured repeatedly.  I try to keep all my posted books together but I swear they rearrange themselves when I'm not looking.

Oh, make sure you don't make the common mistake of looking for the book using the coverart shown here next to the book's title. the same ISBN can use several different covers for the same book, so make sure you search your shelf or storage area for swapping by title and not just by looking for 'the green kid book". it may not be your memory that's at fault! Just the way you are searching!
