Got a weird one today. The book is NOT an ARC as far as I can tell - and since I do blog reviews and get a lot of ARCs, I'm usually able to spot them pretty quickly. But nothing on the cover or the publisher's information page says anything about it being an ARC.  However, there is no price stamp on it, it looks like a book club edition but isn't marked as such, and it has a big stamp on the inside front cover which says NOT FOR RESALE. I don't particularly care, it's a book I've really been wanting to read, but I'm wondering if I've gotten something I should NOT repost when I am done with it...

Is the Not For Resale stamp from the publisher?  I ask because I went to the Baltimore Bookthing which is a freebook place.  People donate books and some volunteers open up on the weekends and just give them away.  Anyway they all have a stamp on the title page "Balimore Bookthing.  This is a free book and not for resale" I'm assuming to prevent people from stocking their used book store shelves or selling them on Ebay. I've sent several out on here and have had no complaints. I figure PBS is technicallly not selling.

Mary, I don't know who the stamp is from. It's just a big black stamp that takes up a good chunk of the inside front cover.

It could be a promo copy.  Those are ok to post, if I remember correctly.

Sounds like a promo copy to me to.  We get those at bookshows or in the mail... the book is out but it's a free copy to a bookseller or reviewer to entice them to buy them and sell them or feature a review of them... They aren't Arcs, though, so you should be able to repost here, but I wouldn't atempt to sell it online or at a ubs.  We always give ours out free to our regular customers or family members.
