This book would've been so much better with some editing. There is no narrative throughout the text. Instead we hear a painful travelogue. I would have loved to read more about what should've been asked:
*What has been his greatest struggle?
*Has he overcome it?
*How did his family life shape him spiritually?
*How has Frances felt about/lived through his experiences?
Surely there is more to him than roller pigeons, duck hunting and endless hospital visits. If the book is too painful for you to make it all the way through, skip to the part about East Germany.
