I enjoyed reading this book. It was a good look at Paris after WWII. I also liked the author. She lived the life she wanted instead of being pushed by relatives into their vision of her life.

Collette, a young Egyptian girl, returns to Paris where she visits her grandparents, as well as her mother. She notices the differences from the pleasant atmosphere of her Egyptian grandparents versus the atmosphere of her Parisian grandmother. While both are different, Collette adjusts, learning from both experiences in life. Collette travels back and forth from both cities Collette is adventurous: she loved spending time with the family chef, savoring cooking experiences and the love of food. Her experience in life often shared her love of special dishes she savored. A great, fun read.
