I'm sorry to hear this. It's always sad to lose an option, but I can understand completely. DH is on thyroid medication, and it's a miracle he got through some days when he was younger and his problem was undiagnosed.

But at least you have something to fall back on, which is good news. I hope you have an easier time finding what you want!

Don't you dare apologize! You have been careful with your money for years and taken the least expensive option when you could. There are many, many things in life that we upgrade on- remember the cheap car from college? The inexpensive sandpaper toilet tissue? Now it's time for a different option on books. Technology has advanced to the place where you can get a brand new book in your underwear at 2am. How cool is that? Embrace your technology and take advantage of a new option.

And go get your levels tested and check that Synthroid presciption in case it needs to be upped a bit.

EVE- does you library by chance have a home bound service? People with various conditions qualify and I'd assume yours would.

I'm usually one to forgive fines if someone tells me they have been very sick.  But I deal with home bound people 90% of the time, and they are in/out of hospital all the time.

Have you looked into that Philly library that has a hufe selection of ebooks for a fee each year?

Also look for various free email newsletters, they have cheap or free books to choose from and some of the books are great.

Sadly some of the new books can't be gotten on ebook by the library (due to the publishers) for around 6-8 months. GRRR!

My library did away with fines decades ago!  But they will send you a bill to Buy the book IF its 30 days late!  You can still return the book & not buy or have fines.  I havent been in my library since I go the Nooks...went there to learn how to use the ebook download only to find out my library didnt have the feature [No ebooks] at that time  grrr  Since them with all my B*tching we now have 1120!!!   IN about 20 months...not bad LOL

I think this is the part that gets to me. Plus, for whatever reasons, some books they get in hardback, they never get in eBook format. So, it's either borrowing it in hardback or buying it.
