Any good legal thriller is full of misdirection and surprise plot twists and this one is no different. Defense attorney Mickey Haller plays prosecutor along with his ex-wife Maggie McPherson, from the DA's office and investigator, Harry Bosch, LAPD. With all these wonderful characters and a crackpot defense lawyer, the roller coaster ride to justice is spectacular. Though the judge did get on my last nerve allowing the defense such leeway. I don't think he would have gotten away with most of his stunts in a real courtroom.
Either way, I plowed through this in one day. I just had to know how it ended. A surprise ending that wasn't really a surprise as it was setup early on if you were paying attention.

I was a little disappointed in Connelly's book - not as good as his others. Very slow through most of the first half, then a rushed consclusion.

Bleah! Really looked forward to another HB thriller. What I got is Harry taking a backseat to Mickey Haller, written in a confusing first/third person narrative and lackluster characters all around. Most of the Amazon reviews loved it, so, go figure...
