I just looked at the only review here for "Doctor Sleep" by Stephen King, a sequel to 'The Shining' and the only thing the guy wrote was that UK version has different ISBN than US version! Do I report this as "not a review"? |

There should be a "thumbs down" button to the right. Just click on it. When it gets enough thumbs down someone will look at it for removal. |

I hate reviews that aren't reviews. I gave it a thumbs down, and now everyone else can too: http://www.paperbackswap.com/Doctor-Sleep-Stephen-King/book/1451698844/ |

There used to be a thread where people would post these types of reviews for others to give them the thumbs down and help get them off the first page. eta: someone gave it a thumbs up at some point. Last Edited on: 11/13/13 3:14 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

where can you see how folks have rated a review? all I can see is that I gave it a "thumbs down", scrolled all the way down and didn't see any stats on how many ups or downs it was given, just that it is the only review to date for that book. |

It says right above the thumbs how many people found it helpful. I don't think they get removed anymore unless there is something nasty in them. They just move to the bottom with the thumbs down, so if there aren't a lot of reviews not much will happen as won't have far to go. Some people use the reviews as a way to make comments that might be better for the description section, but they don't know how to do data edits. I can't stand those either. I will look to give that one a thumbs down. People that have these kinds of concerns need to use the "More Options" drop down menu and then choose "Edit Book Data" > submit. Have you ever noticed a review in the description? I have and that's really annoying! Look closely in some of them and you will notice opinion statements.

I haven't noticed that yet, but I'm sure there will still be book summaries in the review sections. During the early years of PBS, the summary didn't automatically get included with the book data. And there were a lot of books without cover pictures. I remember a time whem most of the books on my shelf had no cover pictures. So we were encouraged to find cover pictures and upload them, and to find summaries and post them in the review section because we didn't have the ability to add them to the book descriptions. That's why you might run across a lot of reviews that have only summaries, and not real reviews, because we were helping out the site by filling in that info in the best place we had to put it at the time.

It will be reviewed by another member before it is approved, but when you go to edit the book data, the description is there. You can fix typos this way as well. |

Yeah, I've done it before. In fact, one description I edited I found again and was going to post the address here to show but when I got to it and read it again I realized I edited it and it was approved. A couple of others I've noticed and didn't edit I couldn't remember. Oh well, If I notice one again I'll post it. |

Jeanne G. its not the only review of the book, just the only review for that edtion! Try this one http://www.paperbackswap.com/Doctor-Sleep-Shining-Stephen-King/book/1476727651/ Generally I don't care about non reviews unless they are actually the only review of the book. That guy posted what he though was revelant data about the book so I beleive it was done to help other members who might not want a uk version, if that is indeed the uk version. If I really want to look a reviews for a book and there are non reviews or no reviews I always check every available version for that book. The pbs system doesn't list all the reviews for every version of that book only for that one version you are looking at. Hope that helps you find a better review!
