I heard on CNN today that the bones had been positively identified as Richard's and that the British peoiple were going to give them an honourable burial.

Yes, but in Leicester Cathedral, not Westminster or even York.  That makes me a bit sad.

I saw that on Wikipedia this morning.  Wow!  What a find!  It reminded me that for many years when I was young my dream was to be an archeologist.  And, geez, what a case of scoliosis that man had!  Poor guy.

Isn't this awesome? My FB feeds were full of it this morning, and we're all squeeing over at Goodreads, since our co-workers haven't a clue what we're talking about.

I agree Letty, I think Richard would have been happiest buried in York though.  He loved the north country.

Awesome discovery. Now we have to work on confirming whether the bones in the stairwell belong to the princes. That could solve a 500-year mystery!

I agree Letty, I think Richard would have been happiest buried in York though.  He loved the north country.   And they loved him, and they mourned him despite the edict not to do so.

This is just way cool stuff.  Really lucky that the female line of Richard's decendant(which had the DNA they were looking for) hadn't died out yet.  I would have thought York as well for his re-burial.

And I still say it was Margaret Beaufort head -mastering the disappearance of the princes......

Still at work and haven't watched them, but the documentary is up at YouTube and visible to US at time I'm posting (credit to Karla for spotting it). A friend at GR just sent me a link to an audio. No idea what's on there since I'm working at work today, but there's an audio clip here.

I just watched the whole thing and it is so interesting, and so fateful, that this happened now.  Makes you think there is some divine intervention here.

Thanks for posting this Cathy.

I'm watching it now. Fascinating, but this Philippa from the R3 Society is a bit much.

Well she is rather invested in it.  She just couldn't wrap her head around a person functioning with a spinal deformity.  My sister had scoliosis and had a S curve.  Had she not had surgery she would have been deformed, my niece was in a body brace for 4 years before they did her surgery she had a C curve like RIchards and in the same area.   The C curve and where he had it would not have been noticeable in clothing and would not have kept him out of armor.  In fact the armor almost assuredly helped the curvature, as a modern brace would. And his musculature certainly would have lessened the curve in life.  His active life style also would have helped the pain, and the over all benefits of high status. Good food, physicians etc.
