I found this a fascinating tale of life in the American west as told from a Native American viewpoint.

My husband is donating this book - it is about Cynthia Parker- a Comanche captive from Texas and mother of the grear Comanche leader Quannah Parker. Good insight into Comanche life in 1836 and life in Texas the year of the battle of the Alamo. His rating is excellent.

I have read almost all of St. Robson's books and this one touched my heart the most. What a wonderful, but heartbreaking, story! It made me really think more about the white men trying to convert Indians into a "civilized" life-who is really more civilized? I also learned alot of the Comanche Indian way of life while enjoying a good story. I enjoy reading books that tell a good story, but as well as a story, you can learn something and take something with you from the book. This book does all that. One more thing-make sure you have Kleenexes handy near the ending!
