Excellent book. If you liked the movie, you'll love this read. This is a "guys" type of book, but I loved it too.

This is a great read, giving a rolicking account of the very early days of the American space program and the men (mostly) who were involved. Very easy to read, and very informative.

My favorite Tom Wolfe book - the space race, the formation of NASA, and Chuck Yeager. Wonderful book!

If, like me, you well recall the drama of the early space missions, this book will bring back the unambiguous enthusiasm we felt for our astronaut heroes and their families. And if, instead, you're from a younger generation, you owe it to yourself to experience that excitement. Here's a fantastic rendering of the people and events, each one unique but each characteristic of America. A great read.
