Touch was a peacetime CI agent for the US Army in Paris for several years where he worked to keep NATO secure. When he left the service he became a photojournalist in San Francisco. His home is a revolving door for girls. His best friend and confidant, Nick Pirelli was also his roommate in Europe.

Touch attends a Chinese wedding and the sister of the bride is pushed off a cliff. ouch investigates, but people are killed and he is harassed. Along the way he runs into a Chinese box that has no opening, Chinese tongs with old rivalries, a burning house, a beautiful but tragic woman, and a group called the High Five. It all takes place in Marin County and San Francisco.
