Colt's story. Colt, Melanie, & Hawk have been best friends since childhood. Colt is back in town to take over the family business after his year abroad studying finance, Hawk is on a short leave from the military, & Melanie has been working three jobs while they were away and is having fertility issues. She wants her own family and is looking at options for having a baby. The men are unaware because that is the one thing she's never shared. Arguing with Colt on life plans has the two best friends kissing in a moment of anger that turns into a topsy turvy attraction. Colt is fighting it with everything he has. His meddling brothers, sister, parents, Hawk, & town folk all know better. As Colt and Melanie delve deeper into their relationship, tragedy strikes that will make them or break them.
