I can't remember where I got the pattern from (lionbrand site, but i can't remember what site i first saw the discussion about it.)  Has anyone done this?  I have a question on the first part of the pattern.

Cast on 40 sts.

Knit 6 rows.

*Next Row (Basket Weave):

K4, work Row 1 of Basket Weave to last 4 sts, k4.

Rep Rows 1-12 of Basket Weave for 4 in. [10 cm], end with Row 6 or 12.

Knit 4 rows.

Here's my problem.  The basketweave directions say this:

Basket Weave (multiple of 8 sts)

Row 1 (RS):

Knit.

Rows 2-6:

*K4, p4; rep from * across.

Row 7:

Knit.

Rows 8-12:

Rep Rows 1-12 for Basket Weave.

SO...... after i knit 4, do i start with Row 1 (RS): knit?   That would be 7 knit rows right?  Or do i go ahead and start on Row 2?

Thanks for any help!

*P4, k4; rep from * across.

Row 1 looks like straight knit across the whole row.

Looks like starting on row 2 you K4, P4, K4, P2, K4, P2 - keep doing this until the end of row 2. Don't forget to change the direction of your working thread each time you switch from knit to purl or from purl to knit.

Row 3, 4, 5 and 6 are identical:

K4, P4, K4, P4 - keep doing this until the end of each row.

row 7 looks like straight knit again,.

then rows 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 are the same as rows 2-6.

i hope this helps.

Do row one of the basketweave pattern.  So you'll have 7 knit rows before starting row 2 of the basketweave pattern.

OMG am I the only one having so much trouble with this? I finally got the Mesh Stitch figured out and then I lost a couple stitches some how with the sugar cubes. How did i do that when I survived the dreaded mesh stitch?!   I'm getting tennis elbow from ripping it out so many times!

I looked at that pattern on the Lion brand website- It's adorable!  I'm sure it will be worth all the hard work.
