A good trashy beach book.
From the cover...Kris Phoenix: the wild English rocker with the raunchy strut, spiky hair and dazzling blue eyes...Bobby Mondella: the black king of throbbing soul with the sensuous moves and the sexy voice...Rafealla: the dark, exotic beauty with every reason to sing the blues...They've got it all, and life in the fast lane is hot. Parties, booze, drugs, power and sex. But the bright lights can't erase the price they paid on the raw, lonely road to the top...Now a tough record magnate and his icy wife bring the three stars together in concert. Onstage at a plush California estate, their fates collide at last. And as the music blasts to a climax, one man's desperate, secret vendetta will trap Kris, Rafealla and Bobby in its sudden, muderous heat.

"Rock Star" is a good soap opera. Collins' concern for her characters is strong, as is her usual steamroller narrative drive. Rock Star is packed with the kind juicy bits that are the hallmark of a Jackie Collins novel...

I love Jackie Collins, but this wasn't one of my favorites. It made me sad, more than anything.

With the paper jacket still on it, it is a good read the way Jackie Collins writes and almost puts you there.

With the fast-paced excitement and glamour that have made each of her books a mojor international best-seller, Jacie Collins's now turns from the husbands and wives of Beverly Hills to the glittering world of big-time music - the world of sex and drugs and rock & roll, in which hopes and dreams are as important as drop-dead ambition, rughless power, and big money...
Rock Star begins with an exclusive, expensive fund-raiser for Governor Jack Highland on the magnificent estate of the ruthlessly powerful and universally feared record magnate Marcus Citroen and his icy wife, Nova, bringing together three of the biggest recording stars in the world:
The Legend - Kris Phoenix - a brash, sexy English singer and legnedary guitarist...
The Survivor - Bobby Mondella - a handsome, black, soul superstar, still recovering from a near-fatal accident...
The Newcomer - Rafaella - an exotically beautiful, part-white, part-black girl of wealthy parentage, who has every reason to sing the blues.
The three of them attend the evenet reluctantly. Marcus Citroen has called in favors, and the time has come to pay.
Rock Star is the story of their rise to fame and glory, of their triumphs and pains, their loves and their hates, their fueds and fights, interweaving their lives until the fateful night in Malibu, on Marcus Citroen's lush, ocean-front estate, where they finally meet their destiny...
