Hello everyone.

I dont know if this is the place for it but I am just starting to try some of the Steeple Hill Love Inspired Suspense. Any thoughts on them? Are they good romantic suspense? Anyone having deals on them so I can try a few?

Thanks!
Elizabeth

E - I don't frequent the Christian genre board, but you might check there to see if they have something similar to our "Is This On Your Bookshelf" thread. Although the Steeple Hill line is considered romance, the line is more often associated with "inspirational romance" and you might find more readers in the Christian forum.

they're hit and miss for me (same with harlequin and silhouette lines..some are good and some arent so good). I like the cozies they have in that line 'murder by mushroom' and 'glory' series (4 in this series). I wasn't too wild about Lenora Worth's Secret Agent Minister - couldn't even finish that one though I did get one that I think is the sequel. The Inn at Shadow Lake was good but thought it'd have more stories but the author passed away before publishing so that's that with that author. :-( it was pretty good too.

I'm not a huge suspense fan but for other christian authors I've heard good things about Dee Henderson and Terri Blackstock. and as Colleen mentioned there are some threads on the christian books recs or you can start one there as well...there's also an inspirational discussion on romantictimes.com under the message boards..Iv'e gotten some good ideas from there and there are several there who readl the Love Inspired line - I read the love inspired line more than the love inspired suspense and it's still new-ish to me though I have a few authors I really like and depend on.

I have read books in the love inspired suspense series an they are well written and very enjoyable. I have found most of them to not be overly preachy. Debbie Giusti is one author that I really enjoy reading in love inspired suspense. Sometimes well known Christian fiction authors will write a book for love inspired and they are usually really good. A famous Christian fiction suspense author with the first name Colleen writes under the name Colleen Rhodes for LI Suspense and those books are really good. Another one is  Hannah Alexander, who is actually a husband-wife team that writes.

So far in my reading of these books, I have not been disappointed.  Oh, another one I thought of that writes really well (in my opinion) is Elizabeth White.

Those are hit and miss.  True romantic suspense I would suggest Dee Henderson or Terri Blackstock who are huge in that genre.

I'll have to check out Colleen Rhodes! thanks! the most recent series I read was by Ron & Janet Benrey and takes place in a small town over 4 books - think it's North Carolina..one of the Carolinas! and Murder by Mushroom was good. these were all labeled 'cozy' on the cover. And the Inn at shadow Lake was good IMO but was set up for sequels which won't come about since the author passed away. I'm still learning the authors..so far in the regular Love Inspired line I've found some I consider' dependable auto-buy'.

honestly though I don't think very many of these shorter category type romances(including harlequin, silhouette. all of them) are really long enough to go into a great amount of detail..there are some exceptions but I usually read these when I'm wanting something short and just to fill in a with a taste of romance or taste of suspense. I wish some of these authors(like Brenda Minton) would write the longer novels, expanding on some of their shorter love iinspired stories! but oh well!

I'll see if I can remember who I got a great deal from on love inspired - she had a huge shelf and a good deal think it was 4/1 but that's not all the time.

eta:  http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/members_books.php?m=MldWcWlIczhndjg9  this is one I've gotten deals from. thre's someone else too but can't rmeember who. this lady has I think one from the suspense like but close to 50 or so in the regular love inspired line. I found both these deals by searching the book bazaar at the time - just search 'love inspired' and choose 'subject only' for the first search then you can try 'christian romance' in the subject or 'love inspired' in the messages. sometimes in another person's deal thread someone will have in their siggy line that they're doing a deal.
